I've been perfecting my false-lash technique since high school, when I discovered that the right lash glue could make strip lashes survive eight-hour school days. Eventually, I graduated to professional lash extensions, but after months of upkeep, damaged lashes, and the mounting costs, I couldn’t justify the expense anymore. Going back to strips gave me convenience, but not the customization I wanted. That all changed when I discovered lash clusters, which allowed me to experiment with length and volume in my makeup looks in a way I never could with strips.

But clusters alone aren't magic. The real game-changer is the eyelash glue. Without the right adhesive, even the most fluttery DIY cluster falls flat (or off completely). Over time, I’ve narrowed my favorites down to four lash glues that cover every scenario: formulas strong enough to hold overnight or through a weeklong vacation. Of course, technique matters too. Both your glue application and lash removal can make or break both their longevity and your natural lash health, so I tapped a makeup artist to share pro tips on maximizing hold without causing damage.

Why we love it: False lashes don't stand a chance without the right glue holding them in place, which is why the uCoolMe Bond & Seal Lash Glue is my number-one pick. Designed with a 2-in-1 bond and seal system, this lash glue provides a staggering 150 hours of wear. Despite the strong hold, the formula is hypoallergenic and non-irritating, making it ideal for sensitive skin and eyes while still delivering the kind of staying power you’d expect from pro eyelash extensions. Plus, the eyelash adhesive is fast-drying, waterproof, and sleep-safe. The dual brush design makes application a breeze: the black bond acts like mascara for even coverage, while the white seal locks everything in place and protects against dust, clumping, and flaking.

“I reach for the uCoolMe Lash Bond and Seal whenever I need serious longevity. It’s hands down my favorite glue for long wear. It’s the one I trust on vacations or when I’m crunched for time because once it’s on, it doesn’t budge for over five days. The hold is intense, which means I usually can’t reuse my lashes after, but honestly, I don’t mind since it feels more sanitary that way. I will say this glue requires some experience with application as it’s not as forgiving once the cluster makes contact with the lash cluster, and you should only be putting the glue at the base as opposed to raking it through the lash. Doing this can cause the lashes to clump and not last as long.” —Jailynn Taylor, contributor

Why we love it: This is the OG lash glue—the one you grabbed before a girls’ night out, tossed in your bag, and knew would keep your strip lashes intact until morning. DUO Striplash Adhesive formula is designed for all-day wear, applies white and dries clear, and keeps both strip and individual lashes firmly in place. Once it dries, the glue peels off your falsies without a mess, making them easy to reuse. If your first placement isn’t perfect, it gives you just enough flexibility to adjust without needing more glue. Unlike some lash adhesives, DUO is applied directly to the lash band with the applicator. A thin line from the squeeze tube is all it takes, and after a quick, 30-second drying time, lashes press into place and stay secure for hours.

"I’ve been using Ardell Duo Striplash Adhesive since high school (over ten years), so it’ll always have a place in my heart (and vanity). I can run into my local Ulta and grab a tube anytime, and it’s under $10 and a little goes a long way. Plus, one tube lasts forever. It’s beginner-friendly since you apply it directly to the lash strip as opposed to your lashes, and if you don’t nail the placement on the first try, it’s forgiving enough to let you adjust without starting over or damaging your natural lashes.” —Jailynn Taylor, contributor

Why we love it: Lashify is my go-to brand for a high-quality cluster lash experience at home. The brand offers individual cluster lashes in a wide range of styles and lengths, which are unbelievably natural and lightweight. The glue, specifically the Whisper Light Bond, ensures they stay put without compromising comfort. Its dual-sided design makes the application intuitive. The black or clear micro-mascara brush evenly sweeps the clear formula through each lash for grip and definition, while the precision clear seal tip targets the base to seal it all in for a seamless finish and natural look.

“The whole Lashify experience feels luxurious from start to finish, and the Whisper Light Bond is a big part of that. The lashes are so lightweight and natural-looking, and the glue itself applies smoothly and feels like nothing once it’s on. I like that you can coat from root to tip without stressing over precision, then layer the bond on top for that frosted effect that dries down clear. The hold is strong but still comfortable, lasting me up to three days at a time.” —Jailynn Taylor, contributor

“Kiss Falscara was my introduction to lash clusters and bond-and-seal systems, which prolong the length of wear of cluster lashes as opposed to the 24-hour wear of regular lash glues. The application is super beginner-friendly. You just swipe on the bond, place your clusters, and seal them in. I love that it gives me a hold that lasts for days but still comes off easily when I’m ready to remove it. Because the glue isn’t harsh, I can actually reuse the lashes, which makes the system even more practical.” —Jailynn Taylor, contributor

    Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best way to apply and remove lashes to maximize hold and minimize damage?

Makeup artist Dominique Gordon emphasizes starting with fit. “When applying a strip lash, you always want to measure and trim the lashes to suit your eyes,” she says. This step prevents lifting at the corners and makes wear more comfortable. She also notes that the glue and application matter. “Allow 5–10 seconds for the glue to set and apply in the center of the eye directly along the lash line. Tuck in the outer and inner corners using tweezers or index/thumb fingers.” Using a brush-on formula gives more control and reduces mess.

When it’s time to take them off, Gordon advises working from the outer corner inward and placing the strip back in its case. “You can also refresh/clean them by using a few Q-tips and micellar water,” she adds, a step that helps maintain their shape for multiple wears.

Is there a certain glue that's better for strips versus clusters?

“A standard lash glue is suitable for strip lashes, as they are typically for short-term wear,” says Gordon. Clusters, on the other hand, need “a bond and seal dual-ended glue [to] ensure their longevity for 10–14 days.”

Should you be cleaning your lashes if wearing them for extended periods?

Yes, hygiene directly impacts both eye health and wear time. “Lash extensions should be washed daily with an oil-free wash and a Q-tip,” Gordon says, who warns that neglecting this step allows buildup to accumulate. “Your lashes harbor dirt, oil, and bacteria that can cause infection or minimize the longevity of the application,” she explains. And don’t forget to use a gentle eye-makeup remover to cleanse your eyes.

How we test and review products

We always enlist a range of testers for any review, but mascaras are another story. While some can be used across different lash lengths, thicknesses, shape, colors, and concerns, many are created with specific consumers and their needs in mind. When reviewing tools, we also take into account testers’ experience. For instance, a new, innovative mascara may feature an industry-leading formula, but if the wand still needs some tweaking to prevent clumps and webbing, we have to consider this when determining whether it is worthy of a recommendation.

For our review of the best lash glues, we enlisted the help of multiple editors, writers, contributors, and experts you interviewed for the piece—who all have different lash concerns, desired outcome (i.e., want length over volume), and whether one product was tested across varying lash types. Testers considered performance across three primary categories: efficacy, ease of use, and value. For more on what's involved in our reporting, check out our complete reviews process and methodology page.

    Our staff and testers

A beauty product is a personal purchase. You might be searching for a face cream to address persistent dryness or a new nail product to add to your Sunday self-care routine; you may simply be browsing around for the latest launches to hit the hair market. No matter what you seek or your individual needs and concerns, Allure wants to ensure that you love anything we recommend in our stories. We believe that having a diverse team of writers and editors—in addition to the wide range of outside testers and industry experts we regularly call upon—is essential to reaching that goal.

After all, can we say a skin-care product is the "best" for people over 50 if the only testers we’ve solicited opinions from folks who have yet to hit 30? Can we honestly deem a high-end diffuser worthy of your hard-earned cash if it’s never been tested on curls? We’re proud that our staff spans a wide range of ages, skin tones, hair textures, genders, and backgrounds, which means that we can fairly assess any beauty product that comes into the beauty closet.

By now, you know that the Allure Best of Beauty Awards bestow that instantly recognizable seal on the products that editors, makeup artists, hairstylists, and dermatologists agree are the cream (and serum) of the crop. Spotting that red circle while shopping feels like getting an instant and highly enthusiastic recommendation from your most beauty-savvy, ingredient-literate friend.

We've been bestowing Best of Beauty Awards for nearly three decades now, so repeat winners are inevitable, not because there's a lack of competition in certain categories—trust us, there are plenty of amazing new launches that give more familiar products a run for their money. It's just that some winners somehow manage to remain untouchable. And that's why we've decided to salute them with a Hall of Fame—a designation given only to products that have won three or more Best of Beauty Awards.

Does it mean that you shouldn't even bother trying other products? Of course not—something else may work really well for you. But does it mean you must try them at least once if you haven't already because hello, they are clearly awesome? Yes, yes, a thousand times, yes.

Okay, so none of these products have won Best of Beauty Awards a thousand times, but that's only because we didn't get started until 1996. The fact that some of these tools and formulas have won three, four, even double-digit times is still incredibly impressive— even more so when you consider how many have won Readers' Choice Awards, too.

The products below are only some of the Best of Beauty Award Hall of Famers—yes, there are even more habitual winners—so check them out and then find out for yourself why they keep conquering their categories.

Some say the eSalon Custom Hair Color Set is the next best thing to going to the salon, but we have the audacity to say it may be—wait for it—just as good. That's because eSalon puts just as much care and expertise into crafting the single-process shade you want—based on your hair's texture, history, and more—as a live-and-in-person colorist The kit comes with more components than the average at-home hair dye (like a professional-style applicator brush and a stain guard gel for applying around your hairline), but it's not the least bit intimidating to use. (In fact, it's arguably easier—just one of the reasons it keeps getting Best of Beauty Awards.) There have been many—oh, so many—imitators, but nothing will ever replace the original Beautyblender. Shaped like a pointy egg, the makeup-kit staple is now a 14-time Best of Beauty Award winner. "I wanted a tool that gave you an airbrushed look without having to actually use an airbrush machine," founder Rea Ann Silva previously told Allure, and that's achieved by how foundation sits atop the Beautyblender once it's wet, not to mention the way its suede-like texture and edge-free shape blends it out gorgeously and into every tiny angle and contour of the face.

Maybelline New York Great Lash Mascara has been winning Allure awards—both Best of Beauty and Readers' Choice—since before some of our current staff members were born. The pink and green packaging may be instantly recognizable, but it's what's inside the tube that makes it the most iconic everyday mascara on the market. We've seen it reimagined as a waterproof formula and in different colors, but we'll always keep coming back to the original for its simple yet effective lengthening and separating results.

The original Tangle Teezer completely changed not only the way we treat our hair when it's wet, but the way we view hairbrushes. Turns out that a giant, plastic jelly bean is exactly what so many of us needed to get through our knotty hair—straight, curly, or in-between—without any discomfort. "It fits perfectly into your palm, which allows for less of the tugging that makes hair snap," hairstylist Tommy Buckett has told Allure of the four-time Best of Beauty winner. And while it may not look (or for that matter, be) as expensive as some other pro-loved hairbrushes on the market, you have to admit, the huge array of colors it comes in (and the adorable fact that the brand now makes Tangle Teezers for our furry friends) just adds to how delightful it is to use.

Nearly every self-tanner on Earth does its darkening with dihydroxyacetone (DHA), the sugar that reacts with amino acids on your skin to prompt a faux golden glow. But somehow, St. Tropez has managed to make the customizable results of its Self Tan Express Bronzing Mousse the most convincingly un-faux—to the point that your staunchly pro-sunscreen friends might scold you for lying out in the sun. A three-time Best of Beauty winner, this advanced formula even wows scientists with its ability to provide a customized level of color depending on how long you leave it on. "What's really impressive about this technology is that they've been able to show that every time you wash it off after an hour, you'll get a light, even tan, and so on for the rest of the shades," cosmetic chemist Jim Hammer previously told Allure. "From a chemistry perspective, this sort of consistency is a real achievement. And for people at home, being able to pick three shades from one bottle? That's a first."

If the bronze bottle of Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer looks a bit trophy-esque, perhaps that's because it's surrounded by multiple Best of Beauty and Readers' Choice Awards. The long-time go-to self-tanner for people who are nervous to use self-tanner, the formula promises the kind of gradual build-up of color that doesn't feel as overwhelming as the prospect of a full-blown tan in a matter of minutes. "And just like the color is more subtle than that of the self-tanners you may be used to, so is the scent," says contributing editor Marci Robin. "Sure, brands have come a long way in masking that telltale DHA smell, but Jergens mastered that long before the rest, and it's only gotten more pleasant to use and smell in recent years."

While other brow conditioners and serums promise miracles, RevitaBrow Advanced Eyebrow Conditioner has long delivered on exactly what we're hoping to see: healthier-looking, less brittle, and, yes, seemingly fuller eyebrows. "I graduated from high school in 1994. I think you can imagine what my poor brows endured during that dark, dark decade for the human eyebrow. By the time I arrived at Allure in my 20s, they were still shadows of their former selves," says executive beauty director Jenny Bailly. "A strict hands-off policy certainly helped with regrowth, but I saw the most improvement after I started using RevitaBrow pretty much as soon as it came out. I've tried other brow conditioners over the years, but always come back to this one and use it consistently every day (which I can't say for many other beauty products)."

Why we love it: Nars’s The Multiple got a glow-up, with a new and improved formula so good that we gave it a Best of Beauty Award this year. Think: longer wear time (up to 16 hours, according to the brand) and a cream-to-powder texture that’s not too thick or sticky. Along with the brand’s iconic Orgasm shade, The Multiple comes in 11 other colors that range from peach to berry tones—ideal for mixing, matching, and layering together. Hydrating peach kernel oil helps this blush go on smoothly, but it dries down to a blurred finish that doesn’t budge (even after hours of wear, according to one Allure editor). If your makeup philosophy is “set it and forget it,” this might be for you.

“I'm not usually a fan of blush sticks—on me, they tend to go patchy and don't mesh well with the rest of my base makeup. The Multiple is so different (and so much better!). It blends out in seconds (I like to apply it with a brush, but fingers work too) and has a soft finish that's really lovely. It doesn't look streaky or patchy, and the end result is a light flush of color that you can build up to your desired look. Plus, it lasts all day long—I don't even need to set it with a powder blush on top. Dolce Vita is my perfect pink, but I don't think you can go wrong with any of the shades (especially since you can use them on your eyes and lips, too). ” —Sarah Felbin, senior commerce editor

“Beyond how uber cute these blushes are, they're so buttery and easy to blend out. I actually like to use my fingers to dab the product in before using a brush to diffuse any harsh lines—but, in a pinch, just fingers also do the trick. If I want to build up the pigment (which I usually do), I'll go in with a second layer by picking up some product directly with my brush and lightly tapping it in. Extra buildable? Heck yeah. They also come in the prettiest colors. Why we love it: Milk’s Cooling Water Jelly looks good enough to eat—but please, don’t. The yummy vibes are only outdone by the sheer, long-lasting flush this stick delivers, along with an instantly cooling feel. “The cooling is from the release of water upon pressing,” says cosmetic chemist Ginger King. “Also, the inclusion of aloe vera with humectants like glycerin, sorbitol, and polysaccharides with polymers can enhance that effect.” Makeup artist Sara Wren suggests using a brush with this one “[because it] allows you to build up the watercolor-like pigment and gives a more precise application.” Since it's technically a stain and sets quickly, we recommend working quickly.

“This chubby blush stick is perfect for anyone who loves a glowy flush and doesn't have the time to put on multiple products. (*Raises hand*.) I've put it on in front of my vanity, but also on the back of a moving subway car in a pinch. I just tap it lightly along my cheekbones up to my temple and blend it out with my fingers. It's so blendable for a natural-looking, sultry wash of color.” —Jesa Marie Calaor, senior editor

Why we love it: You don’t have to shell out for a great blush stick—ColourPop’s Hydrating Blush Stix costs around $10, but punches way above its price. Similar to some of our other favorites on this list, it’s long-lasting (read: won’t fade into your skin in minutes) and layers well on top of other products for last-minute touch-ups. The resulting wash of color is sheer but can be built up, and blends out quickly and easily. Pick up a few of the eight available shades and still come in under budget.

“I first bought Colourpop's blush stick back in 2018. Seven years later, and I still find myself buying this gem every couple of months. The color payoff is amazing, the formula is super blendable (you don't even need a brush—just tap with your fingers, and you're good to go), and the price is unbeatable. Whether you're a makeup newbie or a seasoned player, this blush stick is one you need to keep in hand. Trust.” —associate manager of audience development Melanie Curry

Why we love it: Ilia’s Multi-Stick has plenty of fans, Allure editors among them. Winner of past Best of Beauty Award and Reader’s Choice Awards, it stands out from the crowd with its breathable, lightweight finish and moisturizing ingredients that play nicely with dry skin (hi, avocado oil and shea butter). The Multi-Stick has earned a stamp of approval from the pros, too—makeup artist Tobi Henney used it on Megan Fox while she filmed Till Death, noting that Megan’s glow lasted a good 10 to 12 hours on set.

FYI: During testing, we noticed that the Multi-Stick is best applied with a brush, since the formula is on the thicker side. (Check out our favorite brushes from this year’s Best of Beauty Awards here.)

"What I love about the Ilia Multi-Stick is that by using a brush, it gives me a ton of control with placement and allows me to adjust how strong the color is, which I love—it's like having multiple shades in one. ‘A Fine Romance' is the perfect berry to me because I can use it as a soft, delicate pink or go full just-ate-a-popsicle by applying it directly to my cheeks or lips." —Sarah Hoffmann, commerce producer

    Frequently Asked Questions

Who are blush sticks best for?

Blush sticks are perfect for the "no-makeup-makeup" crowd—they’re great for natural-looking radiance without looking too cakey or obvious, like powder sometimes does. Compared to powder blushes, "blush sticks work with the natural oils of your skin, instead of sitting on top of it," explains New York-based makeup artist Nam Vo. Bhatty loves their dewy finish, as they "really lend themselves to creating a glowy complexion and truly look like skin," she says, describing them as “the perfect summertime product.”

Pro tip: "Blush sticks are multi-use products, so you can also tap them onto your lids and lips for a monochromatic flushed look," Bhatty adds.

How do you apply stick blush?

You can use a makeup brush or Beautyblender, but your fingers will work just as well, especially when you're on the go. "I like to apply the product with my fingertips and then blend out and upward with a cream blush brush toward the hairline for perfectly dewy cheeks every time," Bhatty says. For a more intense pop of color, you can use a blush stick first, then layer powder blush on top.

How we test and review products

Before reviewing any makeup, we ask questions about a number of factors: What ingredients are in it? Does the brand offer a wide shade range inclusive of consumers with all skin tones and undertones? Is it safe for readers who have sensitive skin or wear contact lenses? Is it on the affordable side or more of a splurge? Is its packaging consciously designed or needlessly wasteful?

For our review of the best blush sticks, we enlisted the help of multiple editors, writers, contributors, and makeup artists to review the products. This ensures our testing base spans different skin tones, genders, and dermatological conditions. We considered each product's performance across four primary categories: ingredients, wear and longevity, packaging, and inclusivity.

After all, can we really say a skin-care product is the "best" for people over 50 if the only testers we've solicited opinions from folks who have yet to hit 30? Can we honestly deem a high-end diffuser worthy of your hard-earned cash if it's never been tested on curls? We're proud that our staff spans a wide range of ages, skin tones, hair textures, genders, and backgrounds, which means that we are able to fairly assess any beauty product that comes into the beauty closet.

Drew Barrymore’s Brand, Flower Beauty, Is Reportedly Closing

Flower Beauty, the makeup brand founded by actor Drew Barrymore, is saying goodbye.

According to Beauty Independent, the line, which made its initial debut at Walmart and later expanded to CVS and Ulta, will close its doors for good.

Barrymore partnered with beauty incubator Maesa on the makeup line, which included complexion products, multitasking lip and cheek sticks, and eye shadow. “Flower Beauty will always hold a special place in Maesa’s story. It was the first brand that Maesa incubated, in close partnership with its visionary founder, Drew Barrymore," reads a statement issued by Maesa to Beauty Independent. According to the statement, Maesa has decided to exit the color cosmetics category entirely. "This shift allows us to focus on areas with greater growth potential and align our resources with our core strengths and consumer demands. We have been fortunate to have Drew Barrymore as a great founder partner, and we are grateful for the incredible journey we have shared.”

Barrymore has not yet made an official statement regarding the end of Flower Beauty. She also runs Beautiful by Drew, a line of kitchen and home goods, plus Flower Eyewear and Flower Hair Tools (all Walmart exclusives). She also, of course, hosts a daytime talk show, The Drew Barrymore Show, which debuted in 2020.

Flower Beauty's customers have noticed the brand's dwindling online presence for a while now; the Flower Beauty Instagram hasn't been updated since the end of 2024, inspiring comments from fans asking why specific products haven't been restocked. The brand's future was brought into question on Reddit nearly a year ago, with users sharing how much they loved specific Flower Beauty products. “Flower has been under-discussed for years and years. So good. Their blush is excellent," wrote one fan. In its almost 13-year run, Flower Beauty scooped up 12 Allure Best of Beauty awards; the Wanderlust Eye Shadow Palette, Bubble Brow Tinted Wax, and Crush Lip Serum have all snagged our top honor.

While the Flower Beauty website is no longer functional, the line is currently on clearance at Ulta.com.

Allure has reached out to Maesa for comment.
